Zillow Gone Wild: The Real Estate Social Account You Didn’t Know You Needed
Jaw-Dropping Real Estate Listings
If you’re an avid social media user with a penchant for drooling over real estate listings, then you’ve likely stumbled upon the wildly popular Instagram account, Zillow Gone Wild. With over 1.7 million followers, this account showcases a mind-boggling array of eye-catching homes, ranging from the downright bizarre to the breathtakingly beautiful.
Samir Mezrahi, the mastermind behind Zillow Gone Wild, scours Zillow listings day and night, curating a feed of homes that are sure to elicit a reaction. From medieval-style castles complete with moats and drawbridges to ultra-modern mansions adorned with hidden passageways, there’s something for every taste and budget.
The Man Behind the Madness
Despite its viral success, Zillow Gone Wild is a relatively recent creation, launched in December 2020. Mezrahi, the account’s founder, has always been fascinated by real estate. He noticed a growing trend of people using Zillow as a form of entertainment, browsing listings for aspiration or simply to kill time.
“I realized that a lot of people were using Zillow as their ‘bored on the phone app,'” says Mezrahi. “I wanted to bring joy to people and share some of the most interesting and unusual homes I could find.”
A Win-Win for Homebuyers and Sellers
Zillow Gone Wild has become more than just a source of entertainment. Mezrahi’s witty captions and links to the original Zillow listings have contributed to actual home sales.
“A bunch of the homes have sold because people have seen them on the account,” says Mezrahi. “It’s a great way to connect people with their dream homes.”
Inspiration for Interior Designers
Interior designers are also flocking to Zillow Gone Wild for inspiration. Marlaina Teich of Marlaina Teich Designs says, “Zillow Gone Wild showcases architecturally amazing homes as well as homes with the most cringe-worthy decor! It gives me a chance to see different design styles across the country and find inspiration for my own projects.”
Similarly, Amala Raj Swenson of Amala Raj Interiors finds the account both entertaining and informative. “Samir has a great sense of humor, and I’ve even had clients quote him when we’re picking out lighting or mirrors for their homes,” she says. “It’s also fascinating to read the comments and get a diverse perspective on what people consider ‘luxury’ in a home.”
Mezrahi’s Evolving Real Estate Preferences
Constantly browsing through a myriad of homes has had a profound impact on Mezrahi’s own real estate preferences. “Before, I would have thought an untouched mid-century modern home was disgusting,” he says. “Now, I would love to live in one. I’ve also developed a newfound appreciation for Frank Lloyd Wright houses.”
Long-Held Grudge Against Split-Level Houses
Despite his newfound love for certain architectural styles, Mezrahi harbors an enduring grudge against one particular type of home: the split-level house.
“I have no idea who thought that would be a good idea,” he says. “They’re still making them today, and I just don’t get it. Who wants to live in a house where you have to climb stairs to get from the living room to the kitchen?”
Zillow Gone Wild: A Unique Blend of Entertainment and Inspiration
Whether you’re a homebuyer, seller, interior designer, or simply someone who enjoys browsing beautiful homes, Zillow Gone Wild is a must-follow account. It’s a place where you can laugh, be inspired, and maybe even find your dream home.
