- Instructions: Cut the top half of the bottle off and invert it to create a funnel. Pour the yeast and sugar solution into the funnel. Mosquitoes will be attracted to the carbon dioxide released by the yeast and drown in the solution.
Baking Soda and Vinegar Mosquito Trap
- Materials: 2-liter plastic bottle, 1/4 cup baking soda, 1 cup vinegar
- Instructions: Follow the same steps as for the yeast trap, but use baking soda and vinegar instead. This combination also releases carbon dioxide, attracting mosquitoes.
Dry Ice Mosquito Trap
- Materials: Mosquito zapper light, 5 pounds dry ice, heavy-duty hanging hooks, drawstring bag
- Instructions: Hang the mosquito light and install a hook nearby. Fill the drawstring bag with dry ice and hang it near the light. The dry ice emits carbon dioxide, which attracts mosquitoes to the light, where they are electrocuted.
Bucket Mosquito Trap
- Materials: Bucket, water, dish soap
- Instructions: Fill the bucket half full of water and add a few drops of dish soap. Stir to coat the surface of the water. Mosquitoes will be attracted to the water and drown when they touch the soapy surface.
Fan Mosquito Trap
- Materials: Box fan, mosquito netting or fine mesh fabric, magnets, 70% isopropyl alcohol
- Instructions: Cut the netting or fabric to cover the back of the fan. Secure it with magnets. Turn on the fan. The airflow will draw mosquitoes into the mesh, where they will dry out and die. If any mosquitoes remain alive, spray them with the alcohol solution.
